As a host employer your roles, responsibilities and investment require that you:
• Comply with its duties in terms of the Act and all legislation including:
• Basic Conditions of Employment Act (No. 75 of 997).
• Labour Relations Act (No. 66 of 1995).
• Employment Equity Act (No.55 of 1998).
• Occupational Health and Safety Act (No. 85 of 1993).
• Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (No. 130 or 1993).
• Provide the learner with employment for a specific time period and adequate supervision at work.
• Keep up to date records of learning and periodically discuss with the learner.
• Advise learners of workplace policies and procedures.
• Apply the same disciplinary, grievance and dispute procedures to the learner as to the employees.
Learner requirements
• Work for the Employer (Lead or Host) as part of the learning process
• Be available for and participate in all learning and work experience required of the Learnership
• Comply with workplace policies and procedures
• Complete any time sheets or any assessment tools supplied by the Employer to record relevant workplace experience, and
• Attend all study periods, theory and practical learning sessions at The Learning Organisation and undertake all learning conscientiously
